Family Holiday Starts on Board
The TT-Line ferry Travemünde–Trelleborg is made for families: children under 17 travel free or for just a €7 surcharge, play areas await on board, and in summer there's kids' entertainment. Instead of hours in the car, your Sweden holiday starts relaxed on the water — while the kids explore the ship, you can lean back on the sun deck.

What Awaits Children On Board?
The TT-Line Sweden ferries Nils Holgersson and Peter Pan offer everything families need for a relaxed crossing:
Children's Play Area
Every ship has a supervised play area where little ones can play, draw and meet other children.
Summer Entertainment
In summer (June–August) there's free kids' entertainment on board: crafts, games and small shows.
Kids' Buffet
Children up to 6 eat free at the buffet, up to 12 at half price. Tip: pre-book online and save 20%!
Family Cabins
Spacious cabins with up to 4 beds incl. bunk beds. Especially roomy on the Green Ships.
Free WiFi
Free WiFi on every ship — ideal for messaging, some YouTube or downloading games in advance.
Sun Deck & Views
Watching ships, feeding seagulls and feeling the wind — the outdoor deck is a secret favourite with kids.
Which Cabin for Families?
A cabin is mandatory on overnight crossings — the vehicle deck is closed after boarding. But a cabin is worthwhile on day crossings too, as a retreat:
⚠️ Important for Overnight Crossings
Access to the vehicle deck is closed after boarding. Take all important items (cuddly toys, dummies, medication, charging cables, spare clothes) out of the car before departure!
Family inside cabin: 4 beds (2 lower, 2 bunk), shower/WC, compact but cosy. From approx. €40–60 per way — the cheapest option.
Family outside cabin: Like the inside cabin, but with a window/porthole. Kids love the view of the sea! From approx. €60–90.
Green Ship cabins: On Nils Holgersson and Peter Pan the cabins are more modern and a bit roomier. A premium option for discerning families.

⏰ A Family Day on the Ferry
Whether a day or overnight crossing — here's what to expect with children:
Arrive 90 min before departure (earlier with kids). Check in at the machine — boarding pass + lane assignment.
Park the car, take everything important (the vehicle deck is closed!). Explore the cabin, sort out beds.
Watch the departure from the outdoor deck — a highlight for kids! Travemünde slowly disappears on the horizon.
The kids take over the play area while you relax in the café. In summer there's also kids' entertainment.
Swedish buffet with a kids' plate. Meatballs, salmon and soft-serve — something for every taste.
Tax-free shopping, Swedish sweets for the kids. The sunset over the Baltic Sea comes free.
Kids sleep in the cabin, you'll be woken in time. Down to the car, drive off — the Sweden holiday begins!
